Two good reasons to rebuild New Orleans

On Saturday I had the pleasure of working with these two little cuties. I first met them back in April while they were living here due to Hurricane Katrina. Now they are back in New Orleans, but luckily I still get to see them. :)
I couldn't help but feel sad for the damage that surrounds them, and how all of those big beautiful homes were just sitting there completey abandoned. It didn't look like a storm came a year ago, it looked as though it was just a week ago.
I'm hoping that one day soon New Orleans will return to the city it once was. And they are two very good reasons why it needs to, and soon.

Christmas in July

It might seem early to start thinking about Christmas, but the holidays will be here before you know it! As we near the holidays, appointments will start to fill up at a much faster pace. In order to guarantee a session, please consider booking early. Most holiday sessions will take place from mid October to mid November.
I will be setting order deadlines as the season approaches, as well as posting some special holiday portrait packages that will include greeting cards. Please check back for more details!
And in the meantime, here are a few images from last year.

The Yellow Crocs

This is Jack. Isn't he a cutie? Jack is turning 4 years old, so it was time for new photos! Jack loves his yellow crocs, so it was important that we get photos of them too. :)
Don't you love 4 year olds?

Still playing catch up...

Since I was so late in getting my blog up and running I am playing catch up now! I did this session last week, and this baby was just too beautiful not to share. She broke in my new blankets well, and I also think dad should be completely comfortable with dirty diapers now!

I usually don't get sleepy newborns, and she was no exception, but she was the most laid back little baby I've worked with yet. She barely made a peep the whole session. I just adored her!

PawPaws & Tutus

Strange combination I know, but they're both things I wanted to share with everyone. :)
I have a great friend named Mary who makes custom tutus. These things are ADORABLE and I can't tell you how cute they are in photos. I have several from her that I use from time to time during sessions, but really you can never have enough. Check out her site and consider this idea for your future sessions.

This is my daughter modeling her favorite tutu by Mary.

And now for the PawPaw. I snapped this of my pawpaw a couple days ago. Most adults never want to be photographed, so I've learned you have to sneak up on them when they least expect it, haha. Why am I sharing it here you ask? Well, because this is MY pawpaw, and I think that's reason enough. :)

Yesterday's Session

On Sunday I got the pleasure of meeting these two little beauties. We had our session at their Aunt & Uncle's home, and wow was it gorgeous. Plantation style, with horses and everything....talk about a girls dream!
I was so tickled at this little moment, and was so glad to have caught it on film.

Welcome to my blog!

I've been trying to start my blog for a while now and it keeps getting put off as I stay busy. So here I am, finally getting the ball rolling!

First things first, I want to share my kids with everyone! I'm sure you have spotted them on my website before, and I'm sure you'll see a lot more of them here on my blog. :) Here they are, my son Kelly, and my daughter Layla.

I'm hoping you will all visit my blog from time to time to see what's going on at Kimberly Meng Photography. I'll be sharing behind the scenes info and photos from some of my sessions, as well as posting about special promotions that may be coming up.
Thank you for visiting my blog, and y'all come back now, ya hear! :)
